Our Beginnings
In 2024, our founder Grayson Shor relocated to Seattle, where he began traveling across the region to meet battery entrepreneurs, scientists, academics, and policymakers. What he found was a vibrant community quietly leading the nation in battery innovation — but with limited connection between its many groups.
Finding no battery-specific community or affinity group, he decided to create one. In October 2024, the inaugural "Battery Meetup" was hosted at the 9Zero Seattle Climate Innovation Hub. Over 130 people showed up. That night, the PNW Battery Collaborative was born.
Our mission: Make the PNW the leading hub of battery innovation for the nation.

The PNW Battery Collaborative is led by a dedicated team of energy enthusiasts, industry experts, and community builders working to make the Pacific Northwest the nation's leading hub for battery innovation.
Founder and Executive Director
Grayson Shor
Grayson Shor is the Founder and Executive Director of the Pacific Northwest Battery Collaborative, the region's largest network of battery professionals. A battery and critical minerals circularity expert, Grayson brings over a decade of experience scaling multi-million-dollar sustainability programs across five continents, drawing on a distinctive background spanning industry, government, and civil society.
Prior to founding the Collaborative, Grayson led Amazon Worldwide Operations' circular economy and battery sustainability program, developing resource-efficient solutions for 1.2 million employees across more than 20 countries. He also launched the world's largest commercial EV fleet operator's first battery circularity program and has contributed to over 200 U.S. government sustainability policy documents.
His diverse background includes serving as a U.S. diplomat, lead environmental intelligence briefer to Secretary John Kerry, and humanitarian aid worker, as well as managing a $20M climate-focused philanthropic portfolio. He is also Co-Founder and Chief Product Officer of Buckstop, an AI-driven critical minerals urban mining company.
Director of Operations
Joscha Wirtz
Joscha Wirtz serves as Director of Operations for the PNW Battery Collaborative. An environmental engineer by training, he works with public interest organizations globally on digital sustainability and organizational resilience. Prior to moving to the US, he led digital strategy of a European transition research organization.
Director of Communications
WesLEY Andrews
Wesley Andrews serves as Director of Communications for PNW Battery Collaborative. Wesley has been supporting new energy verticals for over twenty years as a political organizer, community volunteer, marketing leader, and currently as Principal of communications consultancy Andrews.Energy LLC. Wesley previously ran US communications for Northvolt and now serves an international client portfolio of growing organizations in the battery supply chain.
Director of Community
Radhika Moogavkar
Radhika Moolgavkar serves as the Director of Community for the PNW Battery Collaborative. An attorney by training, she has spent the past decade in various sustainability roles from leading King County Metro's battery-electric bus expansion to working in start-ups focused on carbon dioxide removal and carbon crediting. A PNW native, Radhika enjoys all things outdoors but hiking, sculling and running are her favorite.
Community Liaison
DUNCAN MILLER
Duncan Miller is the Portland Community Liaison for the Pacific Northwest Battery Collaborative, leading programming and community-building in Oregon and Southern Washington. He has been a builder in the clean energy space since 2006, when he founded HeatSpring out of an MBA class project and grew it over 17 years into a platform serving 100,000 solar and storage professionals. A bootstrapped, self-capitalized founder by conviction, Duncan now co-leads Rose City Robotics and serves as Oregon Hub Ambassador for E8 Angels, where he participates in pitch screening, due diligence, and early-stage investment in Pacific Northwest cleantech companies. He brings all of it to his work at PNWBC: a long memory of where this industry has been, and a genuine commitment to building the community that will shape where it goes.
